Red-billed Tropicbird last year

It’s been almost a year since we joined Lord Howe Island Nature Tours (Ian Hutton) to see the Red-billed Tropicbird that turned up on Lord Howe Island. I wonder if anyone is looking to see if it is back?

By the way, Ian’s posting some lovely images of the island on his page … I’d personally love any excuse to go back!

Regards,

Simon.

It has been submitted and accepted by BARC (Case 656) which is at least the first level of proper documentation. That was in almost record time! Far faster than I’ve ever achieved but I’m notoriously slow! If you mean the second level, which is publication in a printed journal such as Australian Field Ornithology, which, as a first for Australia I agree should be done, then I have no idea but we should give those responsible for the report adequate time to do this. I did advise the authors of the BARC submission re the desirability of so doing. Unfortunately, I doubt they subscribe to this group so your message will not act a spur. Moreover, if I was responsible, it could take me ten (10) or more years to achieve that but then again, I am inefficient. Publication of the first Island Monarch in 2004 (together with the subsequent eleven) is imminent and was only achieved by the imposition of urgent threats!

Is anyone planning to document properly the first record of Red-billed Tropicbird in Australia?
