I have sighted Spotted Bowerbird at least twice in Sundown N.P. southern Queensland, which is even further east of Quirindi and the closest I have seen this species to the coast in SEQ. Cheers – Paul.

G’day all
For what it’s worth, I too have recorded Spotted Bowerbird at Sundown NP – I had 1 bird there in April 2010. This is also my most easterly record in SEQ.
The Hunter Wineries area however, is much closer to the east coast than Sundown NP & importantly, is east of the Great Divide – hence the appeal of the Hunter, where as Mick Roderick says, a great many western slope species can be seen in this region in close proximity to the east coast.
