Fantastic review, David. I’ve also had fun playing with a beta version. Like you’ve said in the review, it maintains the look and feel of a field guide, but is so, so much more. I love the “key guide” identification, the ability to build multiple lists, and add to any of them, not just the latest one, and also to export lists. There is also an import list feature, but I haven’t been able to test that yet because I don’t have any program to convert CSV into a SQL file (and I don’t want to muck around in shell scripts). I think the calls are a little louder in this app than in Morcombe (to answer a question on your blog) but there are a few species not included. Still with both apps, we have a wonderful selection of calls for ID etc. Getting a checklist based on your location is another fantastic development: we should expect this in every serious birding app from now on. Pleased to see that it’s on the App Store now.
