Hi All, I’ve got an interesting reply from the NSW Government in relation to recent amendments to the Game and feral Animal Control Act 2002. The contents of the letter in justifying adding the Pink-eared Duck, was to quote “evidence suggests that this species may not eat seed but they may land in crops in groups and create muddy water which effects rice growth and also create open patches which are then used by seed eating ducks to access crops.” A lot of maybe’s, but no evidence. Does anyone know of any studies on ducks in rice crop, carried out recently or in the last few years, that provide evidence to these allegations. The interest conclusion to the letter intrigued me, suggesting that I contact the game council if I wished to discuss this issue further. I thought the Government run the state. Maybe I’m wrong. If I was a spoonbill I’d step lightly from now on. And then of course there’s their, they’re, and there. —–Original Message—– Sent: Friday, 4 October 2013 3:58 PM Cc: ‘Birding-aus’ And if I wanted to “commensurate” with you I could say “Their their” I heard on this mornings news that at Sunday night’s NRL Grand final the Sea-Eagles will verse the Roosters. Hi Martin, One door closes another opens, its now called the Games Council and is across the street from the old office. Dr Andrew Moriarty is the Acting Chief Executive Officer, that’s according to the letter I received from the DPI dated 27 September 2013. Being the pedant I am I would reply to the NSW Government and say if the behaviour of this duck “effects rice growth”, then what’s the problem?
