What is the current situation in regard to Pelagic trips out of Sydney Harbour? as I seem to remember reading that the “Halicat’ is giving these away, not quite sure for what reason. With the abundance of seabirds off the East coast from Sydney surely there must be someone who will or could be taking over this most important facility for the benefit of not only local birders. But also those international birders who come to Australia and Sydney. David Simpson
Hi David, Nice to see your name on line, hope you’re both well? I’ve just forwarded you by separate mail Roger McGovern’s posting from October, explaining about the current cessation of Sydney pelagics… for instance, that the Halicat has been sold, after many years of trusty service by it and Hal, et al. Yup, nice to have that facility, but someone needs to have the ability, funds, time, energy, desire – all required to run pelagics. In the meantime, hey, there is SOSSA out of Wollongong and the Port Stephen’ pelagics, let alone valuable interstate ones. So, let’s go support them….
