Parrots in flight, who’s fastest?

Many years of living up a quiet country road, dead straight and 1.5 kms
long, I have observed birds disturbed by my vehicle fly ahead or alongside
often the whole way. Usually it was Crested Pigeons, who seemed to not want
to veer off to get away but just kept speed with the vehicle.

85 to 90 kms an hour was no problem for them, and maintained for the whole
km. 100 kph and I usually lost them, I don’t imagine they could maintain it
for long distance given the power they pump into their flaps between glides.

Red-rumped Parrots would manage similar speeds, thougb they would veer off
much sooner.

Lorikeets generally seem to me to be the fastest parrots around, but maybe
it’s their size making them look faster ??
