On Saturday afternoon I had the good fortune to find a non-breeding plumage Oriental Plover (Charadrius veredus) at Kakadu Beach, Bribie Island, To my knowledge it was still being reported on Sunday 29 October, images are available on my website at http://www.aviceda.org/piw/index.php?/category/1732 Tom — ******************************** Tom Tarrant Kobble Creek, Qld http://www.aviceda.org ******************************** =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: birding-aus-request@vicnet.net.au http://birding-aus.org ===============================
Thanks for the update of the Tuggerah bird, Mick. And thanks for the correction of the Hawkesbury birds, Josh. I corrected it on both Birdline NSW and the Eremaea atlas. Cheers, Nikolas —————- Nikolas Haass nhaass@yahoo.com Brisbane, QLD ________________________________ From: Mick Roderick < mickhhb@yahoo.com.au> Sent: Thursday, October 3, 2013 8:51 PM This from Alan Morris… “The Oriental Plover was present from 27 September to 1 October at the Dairy Swamp, Central Coast Wetlands, Tuggerah, it has not been seen since. The site is not generally open to the public as yet however the Central Coast Group, Birding NSW has regular and some at hoc outings to the site so that the birds at the site are regularly monitored. Today there was a Curlew Sandpiper with a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper at the site but no sign of the Plover. Alan” ________________________________ Sent: Thursday, 3 October 2013 8:46 PM Tim, the Tuggerah bird is on private property, same site as the Pectoral Sandpiper has been. The Sydney one reported today on Birdline (seen last week though) is accessible, however a private message to the finder clarified that the Sydney Oriental Plover is at BUSHELL’S Lagoon, not Baker’s, as it says on Eremaea. David Stowe is heading out tomorrow, so expect an update. Interestingly, there have been Oriental Plovers in the Central Coast Wetlands, Tuggerah (NSW), on Bribie Island (SE-QLD), Alice Springs & Darwin (NT) and one in New Zealand! In addition Michael Rutkowski saw two at Baker’s Lagoon Wilberforce/Richmond in the Hawkesbury (NSW). Here Michael’s post to Eremaea that I received and moderated today: Cheers, Nikolas —————- Nikolas Haass nhaass@yahoo.com Brisbane, QLD ________________________________ From: Tim Jones < tim_jones8@hotmail.com> Cc: Birding-aus < birding-aus@vicnet.net.au> Sent: Thursday, October 3, 2013 8:12 PM The Tuggerah bird, that is…. All, I looked this up on eremea and it seems that this might be a private site. Is that the case? If not, is there any news since then on the bird and/or directions available? An Oriental Plover was also found by Alan Morris at the Pioneer Dairy Swamp at Tuggerah (NSW Central Coast) on Friday.
