To promote scientific awareness about birds, avian ecology and conservation aspects amongst common people and students, ELA Foundation, Pune and M. E. S. Abasaheb Garware College, Pune have jointly initiated the* ** Certificate Course in Basic Ornithology*. This unique course is conducted on no profit no loss basis and all participants are given a comprehensive book of lecture notes. This is the 7th successive year of the course. Importantly 1000 indigenous trees will also be planted by the course participants.
*ELIGIBILITY :*
Any person having completed 10th standard in any faculty is eligible to join this course, which shall be conducted in English language. Doctors, engineers, software personnel, lawyers, journalists, personnel from armed forces, junior and senior college students from arts and commerce faculty as well as from zoology, botany, biodiversity and environmental sciences and various other professionals can join the course.
*BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE COURSE :*
*Syllabus :* History of Ornithology, Evolution of birds, Avian Arachaeo-zoology, Ethno-Ornithology, General Anatomy and Morphology, Physiology, Classification, Functional Anatomy, Adaptations for Aerial life, Food and Feeding Habits, Bird Behaviour, Bird Flight, Breeding, Migration, Avian Biogeography, Ecology and Habitats, Birds as Bio-Indicators and Pest Controllers, Conservation Law, In-situ and Ex-situ Conservation, Role of Journalism in Conservation, Bird Photography, Recording Bird Calls, Technology and Ornithology, etc.

A distinguished and experienced faculty shall deliver various lectures. Some of the speakers shall be Dr. Anil Mahabal, Prof. P. S.
