I was driving south on Grubb Road at Wallington when three quite large ducklings crossed the road in front of me. I think that they were attempting to get to the reservoir on the eastern side of Grubb Road.
Apart from their size, what stood out for me was their different colours, all of which were lighter than normal Pacific Black Ducks.
I glanced across to the western side of the road and saw what I assume was one of the parents. It was typical Pacific Black Duck in size, shape and "eyebrow" markings, but was the colour of a good latte.
Are the ducklings likely to be Mallard/Pacific Black Duck hybrids or the offspring of a leucistic Black Duck?
Cheers
David
