Hello Philip and Mick
The Lockyer Valley here in Queensland can be a good location for Black Kites year round, especially around the Gatton Dump, but here too over there has been an increase in the species of late. Rather than in their usual dozens, they are present at the moment in their hundreds.
A few years ago I travelled up through the “Birdsville” and noticed hundreds, if not thousands, of black kites. I wonder whether the inland is now unable to support such vast numbers and they have been forced towards the coast seeking food?
