Will it run on an iPad? I’m not familiar with any of the three devices, but had assumed applications would work on any.
It is good news, and hopefully other field guides will follow suit. I think the only existing similar application is the S&D field guide for PCs, which pre dates it by a long time. Obviously it was an idea before its time, and it will be interesting to see if others follow now, and for which devices.
Are you able to explain how the application works? E.g. What does one do to look up a species image? Can one call up two at once to compare them, or quickly swap between them?
And how much overlap is there between this set of calls and the BOCA calls?

When you go to the Appstore using an iPad (as I have) it clearly shows which apps are iPad specific separate to those that work on the iPhone/iPod touch.
The only Australian birding app shown as iPad specific is the Birds of Australia app which uses Wiki sources. The Morcombe one shows as iPhone specific.
That does not mean that it won’t run, just that it won’t run full screen, like the Birdsite AU app.
To get a definitive answer – has anyone actually tried to use a copy on the iPad?
I would really like to buy it, but would prefer iPad friendly.
On the AppStore iPad apps are always indicated by a + sign – Morcombe does not.

Sorry Damian, the AppStore page for this app clearly says that it is designed for iPhone and iPad. Apple states this just below the buy app button.

Not strictly true. Some apps, like Birdsight AU do run, but images on iPad are pixellated because it dies not handle larger screen properly. This is true of quite a few apps.
Also, AppStore specifically states that Morcombe app is only for iPhone and iPod touch – not iPad or smaller iPods.
On the AppStore iPad apps are always indicated by a + sign.

Having the highest regard for Morcombe’s Field Guide, this is great news. Especially I have always liked the distribution maps showing races and subspecies.
Problem is I am not familiar with using Ipods and am unsure how to download this field guide from Itunes. Can anyone advise please?
