Morcombe app – closing the loop

Just to finish up the discussion on the Morcombe app, here is some feedback from the publishers.

As other people suggested last week, the problem with licensing was only with the early Android version. It was fixed last December so if anyone is still experiencing problems they need to download the latest version to resolve it.

Versions for larger Android devices and Windows 7 phones are being worked on.

Dave, Re your question on Morcombe taxonomy. I couldn’t find anywhere within my Morcombe app (Android version) where it specifies which taxonomy it follows, but I did a quick check thru its taxonomic index & the first 50 or so birds listed follow C&B 2008 in naming & taxonomic order. I also noted none of the recent IOC splits are listed.

    Cheers, Steve McBride

Good news – as my son works on Windows Phone software I am under pressure to get one! A question – does Morecombe support IOC taxonomy, which seems to be being increasingly accepted by Aussie birders as the replacement for C&B?
