Missing bower

Hello Simon,

Bluey was the star attraction in our backyard and we supplied him with all sorts of blue goodies but when new neighbours with yappy little dogs moved in behind us (adjacent to the bower which was next to the back fence), one day he picked up the lot and moved it down to Frank’s place about ten doors down the road. Actually, Frank had a bower in his backyard already and I suspect that his male probably died so it was probably a better bit of bowerbird real estate.

The point is the remains are just what you described, simply a layer of sticks left behind and he took most of those as well. They need quite a thick layer of sticks for a base to plug the bower walls into. There are now several green birds hanging around the site, but Bluey comes back every day as well and you can be sure any attempt by them to build another bower will be unsuccessful.

Cheers
