Hello, could you advise me on a plover that has been coming into the very front of our home, even walking right up to our front door and looking at us. The plover has allowed the kids to pick her up. she has been hanging around for about 4 days now. Follows us around the front yard, and even following us to our cars before we drive off. She doesn’t appear to be injured or sickly. The road behind us has large flat land where we have seen the birds nest. Any insight on what is happening with this plover as I have never seen this behaviour before, and am totally intrigued. Thanks so much Lorretta ===============================

Masked Lapwing chicks often come into Wires’ care. This sounds like a hand-raised humanised chick who has been released and is wondering why he’s been abandoned by his humans.
