MALLEE WESTERN WHIPBIRD?

Hello All, Firstly a big thank you to both Frank O’Connor and John Weigel and others for suggestions about birding in SW WA. And thanks Frank for your very practical ideas about how the weather will be in February and for all your other great ideas. And yes, John, it would be nice to pop over to Cheynes Beach in the next few days but alas I will have to try my luck next February. Both Frank and John mentioned a Mallee form of Western Whipbird at the Stirling Ranges. I’m a little perplexed. Does this suggest that there is a different race, nigrogularis possibly, at both Cheynes Beach and Two Peoples Bay? John mentioned the Oberon species at the Stirling Ranges the name of which I have found in my Morcombe Field Guide. If this is the case, it seems pretty amazing to me that the two races could occur so close to each other. Some clarification would be much appreciated. Best wishes, Patrick
