Hi, I photographed 2 Superb Lyrebirds this morning, and I think 1 was female and the other was male, but as I’m not overly familiar with these birds, I was hoping someone could have a look at the following picture and let me know for sure. I think the top bird is a female, but looking at Morcombe’s it could also be an imm male, and the bottom bird was the male. Neither of the birds have any plumes in their tails. Hi Mark, Judging by the amount of red on the forehead and throat, the top bird looks like this year’s young. The egg is laid in winter and the chick leaves the nest around October (at least in the Blue Mountains) so this bird would probably only be about a month out of the nest.
