Hello All Here is a quick update of the status of the Long-billed Dowitcher at Lake Tutchewop near Kerang for Wednesday 12 November. We arrived around 7.30 am and already a large group of eager birders had already arrived in the hope of finding this special target. By noon, there we at least 30 birders stationed around the lake looking for the LBD. We circumnavigated the lake at least 2 times over a 5+ hour search for this bird. I was confident we had covered virtually every square inch of the lake. It was very disappointing for all concerned that the bird could not be located. We even checked out a number of potential lakes nearby without any joy. We left at 1.50 to get back to the airport. By then, most punters had packed up and left! I checked Birdline Victoria tonight and see that it was located at 2 pm – just after we left! It must have flown in. If anyone is planning on visiting this site over the next two days, could you please text me on 0407 636409. I am desperate to not let another vagrant slip through my fingers and I am only a 3 hour drive away. I would be extremely grateful if people could let me know if it is seen again and where. Thanks in advance for any help that maybe forthcoming!
