Leanyer Wastewater Stabilisation Lagoon temporary closure notification
Dear Birdwatchers,
Power and Water Corporation is planning to undertake further utility restoration at Leanyer Wastewater Stabilisation Lagoon this dry season.
As part of our ongoing commitment to accelerate improvements at this facility, one of the ten ponds will be emptied and desludged to enhance the treatment process.
This work will involve significant mobile plant and equipment on-site to remove the accumulated sludge. Works are planned to commence on 1 May 2012 and expected to continue until September 2012. Closure of the entire lagoon site to non-Power and Water staff will be required during this time.
We appreciate that this temporary closure may impede bird watching activities, however operational and safety requirements prevent us from offering you access to the Waste Stabilisation Ponds during the works.
