Dear B-A,
My daughter and her swain have just told me that they have seen 15-20 Indian Peafowl in the Dilgry area of Barrington Tops State Forest, NW of Gloucester. There were several chicks also seen. The swain, a local bowhunter, says he has seen the birds in the area for several years.
Has anyone else seen or heard Peafowl in the Barrington Tops area?
Cheers,

Dear birders
I am fairly frequently in Barrington Tops, and have never heard or seen a Peacock/peahen there. It is possible that some nearby landowners have peafowls which may escape – the Packers’ place is not far from the northern boundary – just the sort of fowl they might have????? and the high fences all round wouldn’t keep them in unless their wings were clipped.
Happy New Year to all

Russ,
Forsooth sirrah, I knowest my Barrington from from my Sherwood. Methinks I should convince my daughters doughty little nimrod to provide a plump peafowl for next years Yuletide feast. They are well toothsome I am told.

Hi Russ,
There is the Dilgry Circle on the Barrington plateau – but as far as I know no-one in our neck of the woods has heard of Peafowl flocks up there.
All very interesting though….

Carl, Methinks thou meanest Sherwood Forest, nay Barrington Tops.
