If you go down to the woods after 26th April……

In the Government notices section of todays Sydney Morning Herald, there is a notice from the Game Council. The notice is for a proposal that some 190 State Forests be “declared available for hunting to assist in the management and control of game animals”. The proposal can be seen at the Game Council’s web site www.gamecouncil.nsw.gov.au

What happened to the control of feral animals?

Given the great skill shown by Victorian hunters in only shooting “legal” species of duck, I am sure that all will be well in NSW and nothing that is not on the list will get shot!

The Act is called the Game and Feral Animal Control Act 2002. Feral animals are not listed as such but there are 2 lists under Schedule 3Game Animals: non- indigenous game animals such as bobtail quail, California Quail, Guinea Fowl, Partridge, Peafowl, Pheasant, Spotted Dove, and Turkey with other animals (deer) and non- indigenous animals such as cat, dog, goat, fox, hare, rabbit, pig, common starling, Indian myna and feral pigeon.

When you go out in the bush today: Watch Out!
