We will shortly be spending a week in Hawks Nest and I am seeking advice about good birding spots, for both bush birds and sea birds. It has been many years since we went to the area and I recall going to Mungo Brush.
If the wet weather continues what are the roads like to Mungo and similar places for a 2 wheel drive?

Susan check the birding-aus archives for my trip reports from January 2009 and 2010 (both longish) and November 2011 (short), which point at a few places in the area. Mungo Brush easily accessible as the road into the park now sealed all the way to Bombah Point. Drop me a line if you have any questions about the places mentioned in the reports.
