Hi All, David Hartland found and photographed a Grey-headed Lapwing at Amata Waste Water Treatment Plant, APY lands, South Australia this afternoon. Photos leave the ID beyond doubt – the second record for Australia! Note especially that access is very restricted. He writes on Birdline Australia…. “Large, unusual Lapwing observed at approx. 1530 after very quiet weeks at the sewage ponds. Raced home to collect scope and camera sorry, such average photos for such a rare bird! Very wary and would not allow close approach. **Access to Amata and communities on the APY Lands is only possible through a permit system. Be warned – Men’s business/ceremony is occurring in this part of the APY Lands at the moment and this site sits on the eastern edge of very ‘sensitive’ country.” http://www.eremaea.com/BirdlineRecentSightings.aspx?Birdline=6 Cheers, Rohan — Rohan Clarke www.wildlifeimages.com.au Latest updates http://www.pbase.com/wildlifeimages/root&view=recent _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
