Grey-crowned Babblers

At Levenstrath about 16km south west of Grafton I have a small resident population of Grey-crowned Babblers in my yard. About 25 yrs ago there were two groups totaling 25 birds. Over the same period they have dwindled down to four birds until this year when the flock has increased to six. They spend most of the day foraging and sunbathing in the mulch. Until this year they had a camp in a bottlebrush adjacent to the house. This year they appear to have moved their abode to two large hoop pines at my neighbors gate. They are quite unafraid and will approach and forage under the eaves and if there is movement in the house they will hang onto the brickwork and then look around the edge of the window and into the house. The more you see these birds the more you are drawn to the idea of a bounty on cats.
