Great Northern (Grasswren) tour – ADVERTISEMENT

Following the success of our 2016 Great Grasswren tour by private plane, we
are proud to offer you our exclusive Great Northern (Grasswren) tour.
Visiting Mt Isa, Alice Springs, Uluru, the Pilbara, Broome, the Kimberley
and Kakadu, this is a great outback birding adventure yet fully
accommodated and travelling in a very comfortable, air-conditioned and
pressurised private plane while on the ground we’ll be met by comfortable
4WD vehicles. Taking us across the vast northern Australian outback during
the Australian late winter season, parts of the tour will be guided by
Peter Waanders and other parts by Mark Carter. This is a unique and
exclusive tour which has never been run before in Australia. Join us in
August next year!

The 12 day fully accommodated tour begins and ends in Melbourne (Vic) and
you can expect to see over 250 species including many regional specialties.
And if you’ve already done one of our Six Grasswrens tours, this tour will
give you the remaining Grasswren species so you’ll have seen the complete
set!

The itinerary takes us through exceptionally remote areas including the
stark country around Mt Isa for Kalkadoon and Carpentarian Grasswren,
Painted Finch, Spinifex Pigeon and Spinifexbird. Flying to the Northern
Territory we add Dusky Grasswren, Rufous-crowned Emu-wren, Western
Bowerbird and Sandhill Grasswren while enjoying a scenic flight over, and
sunset viewing of, Uluru (Ayers Rock). The Pilbara Grasswren, Chiming
Wedgebill and Slaty-backed Thornbill are next, while Broome Bird
Observatory with its thousands of migratory waders is sure to impress. The
laid-back Kimberley will be the scene of some exciting helicopter action in
search of Black Grasswren, Partridge Pigeon, Kimberley Honeyeater and more,
while we finish on a high in Kakadu NP with an optional search for
White-throated Grasswren or general birding in this beautiful park, with
its many great birds of Northern Australia, including Gouldian Finch,
various fruit doves, Rock-pigeons and many more…
