G’day everyone, Just a brief report from a seawatching trip down south today, with a strong front due to cross the SW of WA. I had originally planned on another Cape Naturaliste watch, but the forecast was thunderstorms so I wimped out and decided this was a good chance to try Gracetown, which Frank O’Connor has said he thinks is the best seawatching site in the SW – however I haven’t seen any records from there, so was interested to see what turned up. I ended up with a reasonable variety, but still think the Cape itself is likely to be better most of the time. The advantage of Gracetown is you can watch comfortably from in the car or right next to it (useful if lighting is forecast for example :D). The highlights were another white morph Southern Giant-Petrel, and more evidence of Hutton’s Shearwater passage in the capes area in early-mid August
