Gourmet Lorikeets, Gorokan, NSW Central Coast

I have just seen a group of 8 Rainbow Lorikeets on the ground, in the lane-way behind our house. They were heartily demolishing 2 mini-pizzas, which had fallen out of the waste skip of the bakers that back onto the lane. Either there mustn’t be much blossom or fruit around the area, or their tastes are widening.

Looks like one of the best places to see Lorikeets, is behind bakeries. My lot were very possesive of their pizza, they successfully defended it from 2 adult Magpies. Funny enough, they were happy to share with a Noisy Miner.

Rainbow and Scaly-breasted Lorikeets are regular visitors to the back yard of the Bulahdelah Bakery, where they feed on discarded bakery products. Paul Osborn Bulahdelah NSW
