Gluepot update / closure

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say that while it’s getting warmer at Gluepot and the prolific plantlife is starting to dry off a little, bird activity is still strong. Scarlet-chested Parrots are still being seen although not as easily as earlier. Flocks of Budgerigars have descended onto the Reserve from the outback and are breeding in many places. Then there’s still good activity of the ‘usual’ sought-after species: Red-lored Whistler, Striated Grasswren, Black-eared Miner (although mostly hybrids these days), Chestnut Quail-thrush etc etc. Even Painted Buttonquail seem to have returned to the area. I’ve posted some recent pictures in a facebook album, click on the bottom link of the signature block below to view them.

For those planning a trip out there, please be aware that a portion of the reserve will be closed to the public for feral animal control between 25-28 Nov. Certain parts of the reserve, including the visitor centre, will remain open. If you’re planning a visit during this period, please phone the rangers on (08) 88929600 for more details.

cheers Peter
