Galahs

Yesterday, Sunday morning , it rained from 6a.m. through to about 1.00 pm in Adelaide. This was the first rain for some 3-4 weeks, together with nice cool weather around 16 -18 deg C. Something I noticed was a large number of Galahs just sitting motionless on power lines, not flapping, not preening, just sitting there in the rain. No other bird species were doing this, just the Galahs.

I guess we’ve all seen them having fun in new rain before, getting rid of lice and that white powder they have in their plumage, but these were just sitting motionless. Any ideas ?
