I think that Euan Moore has hit the nail on the head with his suggestion of
Common Myna. The bill is too short to be a Magpie, the whole bird is the
wrong shape to be a Blackbird and it is too small to be a Magpie or a Raven.
It even has the bare skin around the eye.
