Hi Mike et al At 12.20 pm today noticed a loose flock of roughly 40 Fork-tailed Swifts circling and probably feeding over Tungarra Rd Girraween (2145) and at least one clearly identifiable White- throated Needletail among them. May have been more. ( I was outside and tried identifying them before getting binos from inside house). There is a front coming in from the west and they were ahead of it. Did anyone else notice them over Sydney? Joan Wharton Sent from my iPad ————– next part ————– Msy have been more but I was outside and had to go in to get binos.

G’day Joan et al One FTS was seen in the Hunter Valley today by Mick Roderick, and 12 were also seen in the Hunter two days ago by Michael Kearns, so time to look a little more at the open sky for Fork-tailed Swifts. So if your name starts with Michael . . . no! everybody around central NSW & northwards look up, they are around. WTNT appear to be very thin in coastal Sth NSW and Vic, but several flocks have been sighted in inland Victoria, so all Victorians please keep your eyes open and directed upwards also.
