Follow-up to feral Cats thread

Hi all, This came to me via the Australian Mammal Society. It will be of interest to all on B-A, with the Fed govt calling for comment on their latest draft. This is a chance for all those uninformed people on B-A, who “govt bashed” for not doing anything about cats, to become informed and even have their say about the latest draft plans. In other words, put their pen where their mouth is…. Cat TAP – Open for comment Predation by feral cats is listed as a key threatening process in the EPBC Act. The Cat Threat Abatement Plan (TAP) aims to provide a national framework to guide and coordinate Australia’s response to the impacts of feral cats on biodiversity. The first feral cat threat abatement plan was prepared in 1999, updated in 2008 and now undergoing in its five yearly review. The Minister for the Environment has released the draft varied ‘Threat abatement plan for predation by feral cats ’ for public comment. Comments are invited until 8 July 2015. Please see the Department of Environment’s website for more information. http://www.environment.gov.au/biodiversity/threatened/publications/tap/predation-feral-cats Sorry the link doesn’t come through from my phone… Yours in all things “green” John Harris BASc, GDipEd Director – Wildlife Experiences P/L Principal Zoologist/Ecologist Nature Photographer Wildlife Guide Croydon, Vic 0409 090 955 Past President, Field Naturalists Club of Victoria www.fncv.org.au —– Reply message —– From: Eric.Vanderduys@csiro.au To: < taniai@ozemail.com.au> Cc: < birding-aus@birding-aus.org> Subject: [Birding-Aus] RFI Helmeted Guineafowl Hi Tania, There’s none on Magnetic Is. As for Charters Towers, I’ve never seen them there and I go through there regularly, but I guess it depends on where: “Charters Towers” sometimes means more than just the town itself. Do you have any more specific info on the CT population?
