Male Cassowary and 2 6 week old chicks daily at Cassowary House, though this season so far the male is still quite touchy and not relaxed, I wonder if the trauma of losing 3 chicks early on has upset him? Victoria’s Riflebird male now in heavy moult and looks woeful. Great views of Blue-faced Parrotfinch at Mt Lewis yesterday, in beautiful condition, we saw 10+ birds. The central rectrices extend a few mm beyond the rest of the tail, more striking in these ones than in New Guinea I must say. A weird heron on a small pond 8 km N of Mareeba looks like a Pied x ?????, I think Keith Fisher has some pix on his Kingfisher Park blog. Good birding Phil Gregory Sicklebill Safaris/Cassowary House
