Mt Mee /Ocean View — 12.45pm, Thurs 18 Nov 2010
Horizon to horizon, & canopy-height to cloud-ceiling, WTNTs travelling slowly E->W for >15 minutes, across the range towards a huge N/S rain band showing on the BOM radar at this time.
Uncountable/?thousands of Swifts — though surprisingly late this year, a grand first sighting for the season here.
At 1.30pm, some (tens? hundreds?) WTNTs appeared again, kettling & streaming in a N-S line along the front of the arriving storm clouds. Minutes later, by the time of the first raindrops, they had disappeared.
At 2.05pm, in a gap in the weather, just a few WTNTs passed over travelling E->W back towards the coast. At this time the BOM radar indicated the front edge of the rain band to be sliding ESE.
