Ground Parrots used to be hunted around Sydney in the “old days” using dogs to point them. I am sure a similar technique would work to locate Night Parrots if you first knew roughly where they were, but rather time consuming in a ten thousand acre paddock. It seems dogs CAN sniff out Night Parrots. A point that seems to have been forgotten with all this cat discussion is that possibly the worst enemy is the fox, borne out by the fact that most recent records in Australia have been north of the”Fox line” which is a latitude where dingoes largely replace foxes. I seem to remember reading somewhere that about the time foxes reached Alice Springs, the local Night Parrots disappeared. Cheers Graeme Chapman
