I agree with David, I’m inclined towards a Grey Butcherbird. Interestingly enough, early morning Grey Butcherbird song causes more queries to my website than any other bird. Must be the type of sound that penetrates the general ambient noise well.

They are unlikely to be exactly the same as what you have heard – the song of Grey Butcherbirds varies so much between individuals and from region to region that one day, I’m sure it will be the subject of a PhD study!!
