EagleCAM Newsletter – July 2019, Issue 33 – ‘Two eggs have Hatched’

Newsletter – July 2019,  Issue 33

Two eggs have hatched

26th July, 2019 – Egg #1, SE-23 arrived at 8:38pm.

28th July, 2019 – Egg #2, SE-24 arrived at 5:54am.

6:53am on the 27th first feeding for SE-23. Lady fed small pieces of fish (whiting from 26th).

It wasn’t till early morning that SE-24 finally broke free from its shell. Both chicks have been receiving good feeds of fish.

Interesting fact:

It was suspected the Eagles practiced delayed incubation to try and get both eggs to hatch as close as possible. The eggs were laid about 75 hours apart and with the delayed incubation the difference in hatch time was reduced to about 33 hours. This would help to reduce sibling rivalry but as we have seen in the past it does not prevent it.
