Dear Friends,
Regarding my earlier post requesting some information from various recent books dealing with Albatrosses, I have received a number of very helpful replies, for which I am exceedingly grateful. Unfortunately, none of the people who replied had a copy of Brooke (2004). I have been able to access parts of Brooke (20040) on Google Books. It has a table of contents, from which it is clear that there is no chapter or specific section devoted to taxonomy. There is also an example of an entry, for Antipodean Albatross Diomedea antipodensis. In this,Brooke discusses only why he treats D.gibbsoni as a subspecies of D.antipodensis, but says nothing there about why he treats D.antipodensis as a species distinct from D.exulans. I am guessing if he discusses this relationship anywhere, it would be under D.exulans. So if anyone has a copy of Brooke (2004) could you please tell me what he says about taxonomy under D.exulans?
Many thanks,
Dr John Penhallurick

As an aside, the National Library of Australia Trove website http://trove.nla.gov.au/ provides a unified catalog for most Australian libraies. ===============================
