Common Bronzewing – Bellarine Peninsula

I took the dogs for a walk around our property late last night and noticed a pigeon roosting about 3m up in a tree. I had a closer look and it was a Common Bronzewing; the first I have seen here since we moved in just over two years ago.

I recently saw a pair of Bronzewings by the roadside about 10km from our place and I have seen them in the Torquay area. I know that they can be unobtrusive but it seems that they aren’t common in our part of the Bellarine Peninsula.

It will be interesting to see if last night’s sighting will be a one-off or whether Bronzewings will take up residence here.

That’s 80 species recorded on our property now!

Cheers

David
