G’day
Time to restart the cuckoo sightings list for 2010-2011.
I saw a CBC flying through monsoon forest near the Gregory Downs Roadhouse [Gulf of Carpentaria] on the 4th of August. I then saw a pair of CBC calling as they flew over the Merl campground in Kakadu on the 11th of August.
Where else have they been sighted so far this spring?
Regards, Laurie. ===============================

Nikolas I visit Bardedjilidji at least a dozen times a year and rarely seen them there. Did you notice any rock figs fruiting when you were there? Denise

Raja and I had CBCs at Bardedjilidji in May. Do they winter there?
Nikolas
Three companions and I spotted three Channel-billed Cuckoo feeding in a rock fig, F. platypoda, at Bardedjilidji, also on the 11th August. regards Denise

Could be an overwintering bird [or perhaps one that had lost its transit permit?]. I remember seeing one at the Sherwood Arboretum [Brisbane] around mid-winter a few years ago.

Laurie, I’m thinking your FNQ sighting is going to be hard to beat. I suppose a CBC at the Alice Springs poo-ponds in early May doesn’t count?
