Central West NSW flooding

Hi all,

After all the recent noise online here about Lake Cargelligo, Whoey Tank, Nombinnie, Round Hill, Back Yamma, and the wonderful birding ATM, don’t plan on going out there anytime soon.

Contacts in Euabalong, 25 mins north of Lake Cargelligo, expect to be cut off in the next few days. Condobolin has peaked twice already at higher than 6 metres. And Cowra’s peak latest was 2M higher than expected according to the ABC this morning.

Locals fully expect this flooding to exceed 1990 levels.

A couple days ago another contact posted footage of a carp swimming across the Lake-Condobolin road on Facebook. Lake Cargelligo could get in neither flour for the bakery nor newspapers yesterday.

So if you were excited about birding opportunities in Central West NSW anytime soon, forget about it. And from the news, I can only imagine most of western Vic is in a similar situation.

Cheers,
Gordon Cain,
Safe and dry in NW Sydney,
And not visiting the Central West these holidays
