By Bill Stent, on November 20th, 2018% Hi all, Bill here
Following my post about Koels, I’ve had a question about whether they parasitise Magpies. I thought they concentrated on larger honeyeaters.
Does anyone know? I don’t have HANZAB to hand, unfortunately.

By Birding-Aus, on November 19th, 2018% I observed a large flock of about 50 Fork-tailed Swifts with a few White-throated Needletails (I counted 6) at Wangetti Beach at 7:30am today. these are my first swift records this season on the Wet Tropics lowlands. weather was sunny and fine, and the birds were hawking about 30mtrs above ground…

By Birding-Aus, on November 19th, 2018% I located the first 2 Barn Swallows of the season yesterday morning at 8:30am and they were present this morning as well.
I wouldn’tr be surprised if 30 or so of their kind also turn up at the same site soon, as happened last season… I will keep an eye on this site . . . → Read More: BARN SWALLOWS x 2 at junction of Capt Cook Hwy & Cape Tribulation Rd, Lower Daintree, FNQ

By Bill Stent, on November 16th, 2018% Hi all, Bill here
I have to write a Facebook message on behalf of my employer, Optics Central, about the return of the Koel to Melbourne. Does anyone have a photo that I can use?
I can’t pay anything for it, but I’ll certainly give credit.
Many thanks.
