Hi All I’m having a week away with some relaxing, wine and a bit of birding in the Mudgee/Bathurst area next week. Obviously, Capertee is a target destination but I understand that it was fairly quiet last week, so are there any current hotspots that would yield better results? I have the birding routes map for the valley so will use that to guide me in to a few spots as well. Are there any currently good sites a bit further afield? I’ll try to visit Putta Bucca Wetlands in Mudgee, even though the Citrine Wagtail seems to have moved on. We may go across to Orange one day as well, so any suggestions there? When we go to Lithgow I’ll stop and look at the water treatment works and also look at Lake Wallace at some point too. While I’d like to see Diamond Firetails and Turquoise Parrots as I haven’t seen any for some years, I’m not really looking for anything specific – just some nice birds from that part of the country. Cheers Tom Wilson
