Part of the press release (link above) says: “With over 300 members promoting the conservation of native birds and their habitats, the Canberra Ornithologists Group (COG) has spent 50 years recording bird data and their activities have been recognised by government agencies and other organisations such as the Australian National University. Data is used for monitoring threatened birds, for research purposes, to inform planning and development in Canberra, and for habitat restoration projects. Alison Russell-French, President of Canberra Ornithologists Group said “COG has made an important contribution over the past half-century in the growth of a sustainable and environmentally sensitive city.”” Thanks are due to the committee members who prepared the application, and all COG members who contribute to the work of the Group.
