Interesting idea. I have not checked out that article. As NZ has no native terrestrial mammals, if the thought is to identify a footprint of a non-native mammal in NZ, clearly that is pretty easy! Software to identify a foot of a Myna from some other bird would surely be vastly more difficult, though given digital capacity it may be possible.
