In fact, the NSW Environment and Heritage Department lists “disruption of breeding by birdwatchers using call-playback to attract birds” as a threat to the well being of the Eastern Bristlebird. It is also my understanding that it is illegal to use playback on Eastern Bristlebirds in at least the Lamington National Park during the breeding season. I would hope that no one without the appropriate authority uses playback on that species at any time for any purpose.
