Bowra through to Corner Country

Hi Chris

I will be in the field in the Cunnamulla – Thargomindah – Hungerford region for the next two weeks and have been informed by Mark Handley (Ranger in Charge) that there is still a great deal of water about this area. In case you were planning any side trips, access to Lake Numalla (Currawinya N.P) is restricted as the lake is draining over the road, and Parks are keen to reduce disturbance to pelican breeding areas. Also the tracks around Lake Bindegolly are closed and will probably remain so until summer, but as you may know the highway runs directly past the lake so you can still access the area on foot.

Best of luck!

Cheers, Plaxy Barratt Toowoomba, Qld

Hi all, I an heading off in about 2 weeks to visit Bowra and try for Grey grasswren at Cooper Crossing or perhaps at Noccundra before heading

down to Sturt NP and down through Mutawintji before coming back home. Appreciate any tip from anyone who has been out that way recently. I’ve

checked road conditions and all roads through that corner of Qld are listed as open through to Innamincka, but the road from Innamincka to Cameron Corner is shown as closed. I was considering going to try for Eyrean grasswren (2 dunes back from the yellow bus) on the road from Cameron Corner to Merty merty, but that road currently appears to be closed. Appreciate any tips or sightings people have had out that way.

regards,

Chris Ross
