“blue” Brown Quail

Hi Frank, The Slater guide illustrates a blue morph of the Brown Quail which I suspect might be mistaken at a glance for a King Quail. The Morcombe App does not show it. Not at home to check the rest of my references but I’m pretty sure HANZAB illustrates it also. Do you mean Blue Quail which is another name for King Quail? _________________________________________________________________ Frank O’Connor Birding WA http://birdingwa.iinet.net.au Phone : (08) 9386 5694 Email : foconnor@iinet.net.au _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org

Hi, That would be a very casual glance, indeed. However,as we’ve since read, they are about. I came across one near Leanyer, Darwin, in 2004 – standing out on the road and calling rather mournfully (being anthropomorphic now, but Brown Quail calls are like that).
