I was on the Darling Downs on Saturday and saw 4 Black Kites over the Warrego Highway near Gatton. There was also a flock of about 12 circling over fields being ploughed at Grantham. I also saw 2 Black shouldered kites locking talons and doing the death spiral over the highway. A Spotted harrier added to the raptor tally near Haigslea. cheers Andrew

Whoops, make that 11, forgot to include Osprey. Russ Lamb
Andrew, I spent the weekend in the Lockyer Valley and Black Kite were the most numerous raptor seen (about a dozen all-up), at least one on each major water reservoir. I tallied 10 raptor species viz. Black, Whistling and Black-shouldered Kites, Spotted and Swamp Harriers, Kestrel, Wedge-tailed and White-bellied (Sea) Eagles, Peregrine Falcon , and a brief glimpse of a mobbed accipiter (Broown or Sparrowhawk)
