Birds in trouble

Some of you would have seen the item in yesterday’s papers about the decline in Australia’s common bird species – http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/environment/sightings-of-australias-common-birds-are-on-the-decline-study-finds-20150714-gibmar.html There was further reporting on the global decline of seabird species (based on a study of 500 populations) – http://www.cbsnews.com/news/seabirds-suffering-massive-population-declines/ The key point with the second item is apparent in the associated map – it shows the region with the most species at risk of extinction is in our zone – from Tasmania and the NSW coast, across the Tasman Sea and to the east of New Zealand. It would appear that many of “our” seabirds are under the hammer. Regards, Laurie
