Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea) (30) Birds were feeding on the incoming tide.

Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica) (18) feeding in deeper water near to Mangroves

Red Knot (Calidris canutus) (140) Feeding along with 350 Red-necked Stint

Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Location: Port Clinton Yorke Peninsula

Grey-tailed Tattler (Heteroscelus brevipes) (3) Derek Carter and I have observed 3 birds in this same location for the last 5 to 6 years?

Greater Sand Plover (Charadrius leschenaultii) (7) Birds were feeding on sand spit just passed the caravan park along with many Red-neck Stint and Red capped Plover.

Location: Mac’s Beach Yorke Peninsula

Crested Bellbird (Oreoica gutturalis) (1) This bird was calling from the bush just behind the beach,this is the third year in a row we have heard this bird.

Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica) (42) Birds were feeding on the receding tide along with many Red Knot (220 ) and other small waders.

Fairy Martin (Hirundo ariel) (300) Birds were roosting in unknown saplings next to the Sewage pond but swarmed into the air when disturbed

Location: Thompson’s Beach South

Red Knot (Calidris canutus) (1000) A cloud of close to 1000 birds came swirling in from further South of Thompson’s and landed about one Km South of the main car park,a great sight to see. We also counted 50 Great knot feeding away from the Red Knots.
